Although many take a break from squash during the summer, that’s not the case at 716 Squash where we were as busy as ever!

We travelled to two squash tournaments this past summer, taking a total of 19 students with us to SEA’s Individual Nationals in Andover, MA and SEA’s Midwest Championships in Pittsburgh, PA.

At Andover, Day Light achieved the highest main draw finish in program history from a 716 Squash student at SEA’s Individual Nationals, finishing in 3rd place in the BU13 draw out of 52 students. The result ensured Day Light’s selection for the SEA’s network-wide High Performance Team, another first for 716 Squash. At the same tournament, Jayda Ellis took home the GU13 B championship, a rare distinction last earned by Mariya Ahishikaye, a member of 716 Squash’s first graduating class, in 2019.

Later in the summer, 716 Squash traveled to Pittsburgh to compete in the SEA Midwest Championship, where half the team managed to reach the semifinals of their respective draws. In the main draws, Joseph Jebereza set the standard for the team by reaching the finals of the BU19 draw, while Dawit Yemane finished 3rd in BU17, Deihpi finished 3rd in BU15, Nur Urmama Uday finished in 3rd while Jayda Ellis took 4th in a spirited all-716 Squash 3/4 playoff for the GU13, and Rosie Phyo finished 3rd in the GU13 B draw.
